Emily Mobley Obituary

Emily Ann Mobley, 65, passed away at Waccamaw Community Hospital on December 19, 2023, after a brief illness. Emily was born in Hemingway, South Carolina on April 7, 1958, daughter of the late Liston B. and Ann M. Mobley. She is survived by her husband Michael G. Green, her brother Liston B. Mobley Jr., nieces Mary Braxton and Carrie Mobley, stepchildren Patrick and Sarah Green, and numerous cousins.

Emily graduated from Hemingway High School in 1976. She went on to study at the University of South Carolina, earning a bachelor's degree in 1980 and a master's degree a year later. She enjoyed a successful and varied work career, in fields ranging from retail marketing to hospice care.

Emily was an avid horsewoman and was passionate about all aspects of animal welfare. But above all she loved people. There was never a person that she couldn't relate to, from strangers in the supermarket to customer service reps halfway around the world. People were naturally drawn to her and those who became her friends were the luckiest of all.

In accordance with her wishes there will not be a formal viewing or funeral service. A celebration of Emily's life will be held at the Nesmith Baptist Church, Nesmith SC at noon on Saturday January 20th.
