R. Dyke Obituary

R. Bruce Dyke CHARLESTON - R. Bruce Dyke, 64, of Charleston, SC, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022. Born in Augusta, GA, and reared in North Charleston, SC, he attended North Charleston Elementary School and was a graduate of North Charleston High School. Bruce worked at various local grocery stores and was a manager at Kroger in North Charleston. For the last 32 years he has worked as a Fountain Installer for Pepsi. The delight of his life were his children and especially his four grandchildren. If you followed his Facebook posts, you could see the joy they brought him by his photos and videos. He enjoyed attending their dance competitions and lovingly earned the title "Dance Gramps". He also enjoyed playing hooky to sneak by and spend time with the twins. He stayed in touch with his high school friends and was regularly found at meetups at DIG in the Park. Bruce is survived by his mother, Betty Hill Dyke; his sister, Rebecca Van Dyke; his daughter, Mandy (Ricky) Lingle; his son, Brian (Ashley) Dyke; his beloved granddaughters and grandsons, Lorelei and Blais Lingle, Evelyn and Brayson Dyke; his aunt, Joyce Hill; his cousins, Jeffrey, Randy (Niki), and Rusty (Ann) Hill; and his former wife and longtime friend, Vicky Dyke. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Dyke, Jr., and his uncle, Clay "Bucky" Hill. A Memorial will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 1601 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, Charleston, SC 29407. A Celebration of Life and fellowship will immediately follow until 4:00 p.m. in the Church's Fellowship Hall. A private interment of ashes will be held at a later date in Barnwell, SC. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to one of Bruce's favorite charities: Water Missions, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and The American Cancer Society or Grace United Methodist Church. I´ve been Bruce´s hairdresser for over 15 years. He helped me greatly when my husband had cancer. He was crazy about those grandkids! He loved his mom and Vicky. He always talked about them with love. I will certainly miss him. He was a wonderful man.
