Mabel Terrell Newman Mt. Pleasant - Mable Terrell Newman, 85, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late Stanley DeSales Newman, Jr. died Sunday, January 28, 2018. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 5, 2018 in Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, 1204 Middle Street at 10:30 am. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. Mable was born November 25, 1932 in Gastonia, North Carolina, daughter of the late Everett Alvin Terrell and the late Jennie Rebecca Phelps. She attended Bishop England High School, was an under graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing, was a real estate agent for 20 years and owned and operated Gold Bug Restaurant. Mable also was a member of Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church where she taught Sunday School and was a Eucharistic Minister. She is survived by son, Kevin Newman (Karen); three daughters, Kathryn Newman McWhorter (Randy), Jennifer Newman Wrixon (Ricky), and Denise Newman Sexton (Dr. James Sexton), all of Mt. Pleasant, SC; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Janet Newman Griffin, son, Daniel Newman and a brother, Daniel Dixon.
