Carol Garfield Goldberg
Charleston - Carol Garfield Goldberg, 64, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, January 17, 2026, in Charleston, South Carolina.
Carol was the daughter of the late Nancy Sharnoff Johnson and Allen Garfield. She leaves a legacy of love, devotion, and deep bonds among her family and friends.
Born on December 10, 1961, Carol had a generous spirit and a warm heart that touched everyone who knew her. She was deeply devoted to her family and took great pride in nurturing meaningful relationships that spanned generations. Her home was a place of comfort, conversation, and unconditional love.
Carol graduated from Bishop England High School and earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from the College of Charleston. She later pursued her passion for jewelry, working for many years at her family's business, Garfield's Jewelers in Charleston, and most recently at Barry's Fine Jewelers in North Charleston. The loyalty of her customers and friends gave Carol her greatest professional satisfaction. She also enjoyed crafting and served as a campus mom to many College of Charleston students.
She is survived by her daughter, Megan Goldberg, and granddaughter, Stella McKinlay, both of Charleston; her sister, Brenda McConnell, of Brevard County, Florida; her brother, Robert Garfield, and his wife, Dolly, of Columbia; her loving nieces, Alexa McConnell of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Katie McConnell of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Lila Garfield of Columbia; her special friend, Barry Woods; and many cherished cousins. In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by her brother-in-law, John McConnell.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 23, at 1:00 p.m. at the Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim Huguenin Avenue Cemetery in Charleston. The family will receive visitors following the service from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, located at 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.
