Norma was born February 10, 1942 in Charleston, South Carolina. The daughter of Frank Daniels and Norma Connelly Daniels, Norma devoted her life to service, education and family. She graduated from the College of Charleston in 1967 with a BA in History and a minor in French. Her professional career spanned over three decades, with 29 years spent working diligently for the government. After her time with the government, she worked for the College of Charleston for 5 years. A proud alumna of the C of C, Norma loved being a part of campus life and interacting with students in her role with the Advising Department. She audited classes throughout this time, continuing to learn and grow as a student herself well into her 60's. This lifelong passion for learning has been passed on through her daughter and grandson.
Norma had many interests and hobbies, but she is best remembered for her bubbly nature and sweet personality. Those who knew her remember her infectious laugh and her upbeat attitude. She loved cooking. She was an avid reader, especially of history and classics, and was often found immersed in a good book. Norma was fascinated by foreign languages, particularly French, which reflected her interest in other cultures. She crocheted and wrote fiction. She belly danced at Spoleto. She loved to garden and looked forward to the warmth and possibilities of Spring each year. She was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
Norma is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Robert Theodore (Ted) Rogers, her daughter, April Nelsine of Covesville, VA; grandson, Grayson Barker; half brother: Jimmy Volosin; and half-sisters: Cynthia Volosin, Jerri Ann Fleetwood, Betty Hughes, and Barbara Gavin. Predeceased by her half brother, Jeff Volosin.
