Jacqueline Annette Jackson Brown, 79, of
Ladson, SC, a former owner operator and independent contractor, passed away Thursday evening in a Charleston VA facility.
Born December 14, 1946, in
Riverhead, New York, she was the daughter of Joseph William Jackson and Edith Amelia Boone Jackson. Ms. Brown was a graduate of Bellport High School in Bellport, Long Island, and later earned her Associate in Arts degree in Respiratory Therapy from Midland Technical College.
A woman of remarkable drive and determination, Ms. Brown joined the United States Army and trained in 91 Bravo Clinical Nursing at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Throughout her military career she earned numerous accolades and served proudly as a SPC Army Personnel Specialist, Airborne Qualified. Her commitment to service extended beyond the military. She worked as a planning coordinator for job placement and participated in the career school and GED program for the women's detention center, helping others build new paths forward.
Ms. Brown was a faithful member and secretary of Seedtime Harvest Church. She was also active in her community, serving with the United Way of Moncks Corner. Her love of music led her to sing with several gospel groups, including the Martin Luther King Singers and the Jackson Singers during her time in Germany.
Known as a true "go getter," she faced life with courage and never backed down from a challenge. In her spare time she enjoyed planting flowers and gardening, finding peace in watching things grow. Family was the center of her world. She cherished her brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas, she cooked the family dinner and made sure everyone understood the importance of gathering together.
Ms. Brown was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Terrance Palmer and Torrance "Tyler" Palmer; and by her former spouse, the late Randy Johnson, First Class, U.S. Army.
Surviving are her daughter, Dr. Levania Johnson Anderson of Ladson; three sons, Brian Johnson and his wife Stacy of Ladson, Cliffton Johnson of Las Vegas, NV, and Tracy Stephens and his wife Christine of Summerville; a daughter in law, Gwen Dwiggins of Las Vegas, NV; her sister, Dionne Marie Colwell of Reidsville, GA; her brother, Alvin Jackson of Reidsville, GA; eleven grandchildren, Darrian Anderson, Asia Palmer, Christian Johnson, Brennan Johnson, DJ McConnelly, Adrianne Stephens, Miles Johnson, Nigel LalaRank, Paris Gerald, and Jordan Gerald; and four great grandchildren, MiaMor Stanback, Xamari Johnson, Leanix Johnson, and Ezryn Johnson.
A celebration of Ms. Brown's life will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday afternoon, February 19, 2026, in the Chapel of Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. Flowers will be accepted or the family suggests memorials may be made to Seedtime Harvest Church,1110 Boone Hill Rd,
Summerville, SC 29483. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until the hour of service at the funeral home on Saturday.
Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched - through her service to her country, her devotion to her church and community, and the unwavering love she gave her family, who will carry her spirit forward with pride and gratitude.
