Anne Propst Obituary

Hiller Anne Dreher Propst, 93, of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning at the Palmettos of Parklane in Columbia, SC. Born May 31, 1932, in Los Angeles, California, she was the devoted daughter of John Hiller Dreher and Arlone Mills Dreher.

Mrs. Propst was a proud graduate of Berkeley High School. She went on to earn both her bachelor's and master's degrees in elementary education from Charleston Southern University, formerly known as Baptist College. Her passion for teaching shaped the lives of countless students during her career as an elementary school teacher with the Berkeley County Department of Education. Her dedication and excellence were recognized when she received the "Teacher of the Year" award twice.

A woman of deep faith, Hiller was a longtime member of St. John's Baptist Church and previously taught Sunday school at the First Baptist Church in Moncks Corner. She was a past president and active member of the Berkeley County Historical Society, and contributed to community life through her involvement in the archery club, garden club, and as an associate member of the Berkeley Hunting Club. Her generosity and commitment to her community were widely respected and appreciated. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Propst was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Andrew Propst, and her sister, Sallie Rogers. She was the widow of Wyatt Edgar Propst.

She leaves a lasting legacy in her loving family: her daughter, Judy Stewart and husband Allen of Valdosta, GA; three sons, John Propst and wife Linda of Columbia, Larry Propst and wife Talley of Pinopolis, and Gene Propst and wife Margie of Moncks Corner. She was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren-Lauren, Amanda, LeeAnna, Wyatt, Sarah, Cooper, and Erin-and cherished eleven great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to St. John's Baptist Church, c/o First Baptist Church, 112 E. Main St., Moncks Corner, SC 29461.

Hiller Anne Dreher Propst's life was a testament to faith, learning, generosity, and love. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
