Florence Moore Obituary

MOORE, Florence Florence Porcher Moore, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, the widow of the late Rt. Rev. William Moultrie Moore, Jr., entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 31, 2005. The relatives and friends of Mrs. Moore are invited to attend her funeral service at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Thursday, June 2, 2005, at 2 o'clock. Family will receive friends immediately following the service in Sam's Hall. Interment will be private. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT. Mrs. Moore was born June 17, 1917, in Mt. Pleasant, SC, the daughter of Lucian Lockwood Porcher and Marian Muirhead Porcher. She attended the College of Charleston and graduated from Winthrop College and was a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Moore was a gracious, loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who touched the hearts of many with her kind and gentle spirit. She and her husband spent a lifetime of service to the Episcopal Church which included parishes in Kingstree, Leaksville, Salisbury, Charlotte and later included serving as Suffragan Bishop of the Diocese of North Carolina and Bishop of the Diocese of Eastern Maryland. She is survived by her three daughters, Jennie M. Odom of Richmond, Va., Caroline M. Farris of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Ann M. Hine of Goldsboro, NC. Four grandchildren, Neil Moultrie Hine of Goldsboro, NC, Andrew Stewart Farris of Greensboro, NC, Matthew Winborne Odom of Knoxville, TN and Laura Hine DeBiase of Fremont, NC. Memorials may be made to The Franke Home, 1885 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant, S.C. 29464 or St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 440 Whilden Street, Mt. Pleasant, S.C. 29464.
