Please accept my sympathy on the passing of Dr. Appleby. Many years ago he saved my right thumb which had been cut very badly in an accident. The tendrons had crawled half way up my arm and he said he could not get to them it would be stiff. I told him to leave it on that I did no want to loose it. That was back around 1965. His surgery was successful and I have 90% use of my thumb. He was the most caring, kind and thoughtful doctor I have ever met. I am sure his family has many wonderful memories to hold on to and know that there are many people that he touched while on his journey through life.

Buena, I'm so sorry to hear that Doug had passed away. He was such a nice person even as a medical student and we were in nurses training. I'm sure you don't know but I have a son who is alive and well today because a great surgeon named Doug Appleby operated on him for melanoma. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.
