MSgt. Gethers was an outstanding role model for all the community's youth as exampled by all of his outstanding children. I will never forget the first time I met him when Gloria brought him to our elementary school classroom and how his service to America in three major wars set the stage for his later influence on my decision to serve in the military too. I have missed our occasional visits when home on leave. He was a humble giant among his fellow Berkeley County citizens and it was an honor to have known him.

David we will all miss you very much.My condolences go out to all in the family and friends of David he meant a lot to me.He was a good and Godly man he touch so many of us with his good heart.May God bless all of you in this difficult time.

Mr.Gethers was a wonderful man it was a pleasure knowing this gentleman as I grew up I can look back and remember going by the station when I was a child , my father worked there for him and it wasn't a time that we stopped by to get gas or just stop to talk he always gave us children a soda pop and candy , I know that if it hadn't been for him there were days my dad didn't have a lot of money and he would send food home to feed us . I could remember 1 Christmas he gave each 1 of us
children a 2 dollar bill and when I saw him I thanked him for the dollar bill not knowing it was a 2$ bill and he jumped on my dad and said you gave that boy a dollar and my dad said no I gave him the 2$ bill you gave him then he showed me another 2$ bill and asked me if it had looked like this and I said yes sir he said ok now , but no matter what people needed he always reached out to help if he could and I will be the first to say I loved that man and I wish that I would have stopped and seen him but I was always in a hurry but people we should always make time before it's too late.Mr Gethers I love you and your family may god bless the family and you will definitely be missed and as always I thank you for your Service to our country and our county and as a caring person, Rest In Peace god has received another angel
