Daddy went to the High School of Charleston with Bella. Her family and ours were close back in the 50's and 60's. Irvin Jr. was a good friend of mine. We and Nat would go blackberry picking in a quarry on their property. One summer the Wallaces and we plowed a little farm on their land, and I learned how to drive a tractor (automatic) at age 8. Another time, when I was a teenager I helped Irvin Jr. roof a house which Bella was building. (This was before I was afraid of heights!)
Bella was very nice, smart, and well read. I miss her, Irvin Jr., and Irvin Sr.--all wonderful people!
