Tina Atkinson Obituary

Tina Marie Atkinson, 55, a beloved long-time resident of the Myrtle Beach, SC area passed away on September 26, 2025, in her forever home surrounded by her family. She was born on October 27, 1969, in Radford, VA. Tina graduated from Christiansburg High School, Christiansburg VA in 1988. Afterwards, she went on to Virginia Western Community College where she studied to be a certified dental assistant. After relocating to the Myrtle Beach area, Tina dedicated 28 years of her career working alongside Dr. Thomas Rollar. There, she was the managing force running his office, doing so with compassion and efficiency. Tina's huge heart demonstrated that everyone should be treated with love, kindness and respect. Tina made friends with everyone she met. To know her was truly to love her. She never saw flaws in anyone-only the good, the potential, and the light in every soul she encountered. Her compassion was boundless, her heart open to all. Her smile could light up any room, and her laughter echoed joyfully wherever she went. Tina's fun-loving spirit and zest for life will live on in the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed by many and fondly remembered by all. In February 2018, Tina was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, she fought a long and courageous battle overcoming the odds to live (and lived well) many more years than her doctors anticipated which amazed them over and over. Tina was a true inspiration to us all, always pushing forward with a positive attitude and a smile of determination on her face. She celebrated her life by traveling and exploring with her friends and family. Tina loved spend time at the beach, hike, snorkel, sail and made unforgettable memories for those with her. Tina was a famous "confetti card bomber", if you got a card be prepared to vacuum! We are thankful to all her doctors and nurses for giving Tina excellent care, especially Dr. O'Brien, Andrew and Kim at Hollings Cancer Center at MUSC. Tina leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Wendy Jones of North Myrtle Beach, her father Donnie (stepmother Tammy) Atkinson of Asheville, NC; sister Pam (Paul) Quirk of North Myrtle Beach, brothers Fatie (Sarah) Atkinson and Aaron (Victoria) Atkinson both of Asheville, NC and stepbrother Wayne Craig of Leicester, NC; nephews Dylan and Sam, niece Maddox and great nephews Jude and Bo and great niece Myra and countless friends. Most importantly her fur babies, Willie, Lukie, Oliver, Babygirl, Marshmallow, Boo, Bucky, and lastly Ottis! In addition to her grannie, Martha Marie Bowen, she was preceded in death by her dear friend Jeff Walsh. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 25, 2025. In lieu of flowers, Tina asked that Chewy gift cards be given as memorial contributions to help care for her fur babies.
