So sad to hear that my sweet friend, Lenora, has left this earth. Her joy and determination were contagious and unsurpassed by any I have ever know even though her life was filled with illness. She went to my church in NJ and helped plan my wedding shower. We were both teachers and had children around the same time in life and stayed in touch all these years. I’m so glad she isn’t suffering any more, but my heart is sad because such a beautiful person has left this earth. Prayers for comfort for William and family.

I have known Lenora and her extended Cordray family all my life. While seven years her junior, I recall her teen years as an athlete and good student. She had a combination of the Cordray and Clements work ethic which served her well in all her endeavors. She was a good example as she worked through the tumultuous times of the late 60's and 70's as a student. She was faithful to her Lord, family, and friends while battling cancer, which she never allowed to define her. During our adult lives we kept up through my mother and occasionally seeing each other at Sauldam where our families have been linked for many years. Reading the story about the "starving students" and nail clippers, I wanted to share a kindness Lenora extended to me. During my years in graduate school (seminary), Lenora sent me a significant monetary gift in one of several encouraging notes. Other than sharing with my family, I only remember sharing this with her brother John on the day of Mrs. Lottie Cordray's funeral. ".....and let her works praise her in the gates" Proverbs 31:31b.

Tribute to Lenora Austin
Lenora has been a great friend since the mid 1980’s, and is absolutely the strongest person I ever knew. I was her pastor’s wife when she and Larry were newly married and living in Edison, NJ. My husband, George, preached Sara Anne’s funeral in 1991 and Larry’s funeral I n 1999. Ironically, she died on George’s birthday, 9-11. I visited Lenora this past Christmas and we enjoyed a seafood feast at one of the oceanfront restaurants. Ever since we phoned or texted regularly. We watched movies together during her recent hospital stay and texted and phoned about what we were seeing. I loved her dearly and will miss her beautiful spirit and encouragement. May the family rejoice in knowing heaven is her home.
