Mark Lamont Allison, age 83, passed away on October 5, 2025, at his home.
Born on April 19, 1942, in
Greenville, South Carolina, Mark was a son of the late Alvin S. and Earlie Mae (Osteen) Allison. Growing up in the Dunean Community, he cherished his childhood years playing on the mill village sports teams, particularly enjoying baseball and basketball.
He graduated from Parker High School in 1960 and married his wife, Lynda Huff in 1961. He was committed to his wife and daughters and worked hard to provide for them. He worked for Norfolk Southern Railway, dedicating over 30 years of service, and retired as a Conductor. He and Lynda were married until her death in 2022. During the last few years of his career, Mark enjoyed playing golf and staying connected to his friends. He was known for his warmth and friendly personality. He easily carried on conversations, especially if someone asked about growing up in Greenville.
Mark trusted Jesus as his savior and was a faithful and longtime member of Edwards Road Baptist Church.
He is survived by daughters, Stacy Corbin, and her husband, Alan and Christie Allison; two granddaughters, Katie Corbin Gossett and her husband, Jacob and Ellie Corbin; twin great-granddaughters, Everly and Emerson Gossett; four nephews, Brent Allison, Robert Frey, Jonathan Frey, and Nathaniel White; and two brothers-in-law, Bruce Huff, Jr. and Frank "Skipper" White.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Lynda, Mark was predeceased by his brother, Bruce Allison and two sisters-in-law, Becky White and Carolyn Frey.
Visitation will take place from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., Monday, October 13, 2025 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown. A graveside service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
