James Kloppenburg Obituary

Celebrating the life of James G. Kloppenburg, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who departed this world on January 31, 2026, at the age of 76. James was born on July 30, 1949, in the Bronx, NY, and he eventually made his home in Simpsonville, SC.

James was a man who knew how to live life to the fullest. He was not only a dedicated machinist in the aircraft industry but also a remarkable cook, famed for his delicious spaghetti and meatballs that brought family and friends together. His warm heart and gentle spirit shone most brightly when he was with his grandchildren, whom he cherished dearly. He often filled their days with joy from his time spent owning and operating an ice cream truck in New York, bringing smiles and sweet treats to the neighborhood kids.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Cecilia Kloppenburg, a brother, Vincent, as well as his daughter, Stacy Parham.

James is remembered fondly as a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Sharon, with whom he shared 56 beautiful years of marriage. He also leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter, Sandra Simoes; and grandchildren, James, Nicole, Kayla, Jordan, Destiny, and Charles; along with his great-grandchildren, including Kayleah and six others. He is also survived by his brother, John (Debbie); sisters, Virginia, Doris, and Barbara who will miss him deeply.

Friends and family are invited to gather for a visitation at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A graveside service to honor and celebrate James's life will take place on Friday, February 6th at 9:30 a.m. in Graceland East Memorial Park.

As we come together to remember James, let us fill the room with laughter, stories, and love, just as he would have wanted. He may be gone from our sight, but his spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
