David Embry Obituary

David Sanders Embry, 78, passed away May 27, 2025. A native of Clayton, Georgia, son of the late James Bud and Marie Sanders Embry, he was a retired employee of Delta Airlines. David was an active member of Gap Creek Baptist Church and served many roles over the years including music minister, youth director, and deacon. He also proudly served as a volunteer firefighter and Chief of the River Falls Fire Department for many years. Surviving are his wife, Linda Stanley Embry of the home; a daughter, Leanne Embry (Zeff) of San Antonio, Texas; two sons, Chris Embry of Marietta and Michael "Tuffy" Waites (Jan) of Opelika, Alabama; two sisters, Harriet Embry Aaron of Taylors and Anna Embry Fountain (Marvin) of Clayton, Georgia; two grandchildren, Tiffany and Lauren; and six great-grandchildren, Emma, Macy, Ava, Brantley, Emily, and Zack. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Gap Creek Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Maurice Henson. Visitation will be held 12:30-1:45 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the church.
