Susan Solomon Obituary

Susan Bradley King Solomon, 78 passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, at National Health Care Greenville in Greenville, South Carolina.

Born and raised in Bristol, Tennessee, Susan was the daughter of the late Fred Jennelle King and Nancy Bradley King. She carried a lifelong love for her hometown. After graduating from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Education, she returned to Bristol to begin what would become a deeply meaningful career in teaching. She devoted 33 years to education, serving primarily at Sullins Academy and Holston View Elementary School, where she was cherished by students and warmly respected by the families she served. Her patience, dedication, and genuine care left a lasting impact on generations of children.

Outside of the classroom, Susan found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Susan was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Bristol, Tennessee, before later transferring her membership to First Presbyterian Church in Greer, South Carolina. She loved spending time in her yard, taking pride in its care, enjoying many shopping trips, and above all, doting on her beloved dogs who brought her constant companionship and happiness. She was a member of many organizations in Bristol, including The Junior League, History Club and Blue Stocking Club.

(James) of Greer, South Carolina, Fredrick Hunter Solomon (Raegan) of Fletcher, North

Carolina and four grandchildren, Owen Palmer and Maeve Suzanne Humphrey and Leyton Ashley and Griffin Hunter Solomon. Susan was predeceased by a son, Charles Ronald Solomon II, infant daughter, and her sister, Carole King Crockett.

The family will receive friends from 12 o'clock noon until 1:00 p.m. at Akard Funeral Home followed by a service at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Dave Welch officiating. A private burial will be held in Glenwood Cemetery.

Susan will be remembered for her devotion to family, friends, and the meaningful legacy she leaves through the many lives she touched as an educator and loved one. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Susan's many caregivers, with special thanks to her caregiver, Amanda Kelly, whose kindness and dedication brought comfort and joy to her in her final years.
