Ander Jones Obituary

Ander Vassar Jones, 84, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born on August 20, 1941, in Hartwell, Georgia, she dedicated her life to her family and community, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. Ander was a proud homemaker, finding joy in nurturing her family and creating a warm, loving home. She is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, R.C. Jones, Jr., and their three daughters, Cheryl Taylor (Lesley), Tammy Barber (Jerry) and Lisa Cooke (Dean). Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Jamie Taylor (Melissa), Jared Taylor (Jessica), Ashley Yellachich (Christopher), Hunter Cooke (Kristin) and Hudson Cooke; four great-grandchildren, as well as extended grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Ander was preceded in death by her parents, William Sanford Vassar, Sr. and Annie Grace Temple Vassar, as well as a brother William Sanford Vassar, Jr. A founding member of the Mauldin Garden Club, Ander dedicated countless hours to beautifying the Mauldin Cultural Center, where her passion for gardening flourished. Her commitment to service extended to her role as a dedicated member the Women's Mission Union at Sardis Baptist Church in Hartwell, Georgia. Throughout her life, Ander's selfless spirit was evident as she cared for her family and friends. Ander's talent for cooking and baking was matched only by her love for family and friends. She often opened her home and heart, creating delicious meals and memories shared around the table. She was a steadfast supporter of her husband during his tenure as Mayor of Mauldin, SC, embodying true partnership in both marriage and community service. Funeral services for Ander Vassar Jones will be held on September 2, 2025, at Mauldin Methodist Church, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM, the service at 12:00 PM with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
