Kurt Albert Meyer, age 60, of
Simpsonville, South Carolina, passed away on March 14, 2026. Born in
Wexford, Pennsylvania, Kurt lived a life defined by courage, service, curiosity, and an unwavering devotion to those he loved.
Kurt attended Clarion University, and shortly after graduation he proudly joined the United States Army, serving as a Military Police Officer. His leadership, integrity, and bravery earned him the Bronze Star, a reflection of the profound impact he had on those he served alongside.
In 1996, Kurt married Denise, the love of his life and his partner in every adventure. His career as an expat working in Middle Eastern war zones showcased his passion for public service and his steadfast commitment to helping others, even in the most challenging environments. Kurt was known for his brilliant mind, his constant flow of ideas, and his ability to bring balance, reason, and humor to any situation.
He loved music, feeding and watching the birds in his backyard, tending to his small garden, and finding joy in life's simple rhythms. Above all, Kurt believed his greatest mission was to make his family smile at least once a day, they were the center of his world, and he never ended a conversation or closing of the day out without saying "I love you." His family was his foundation, his pride, and his purpose. He was their rock, steady voice, and their source of laughter and perspective.
Kurt is survived by his devoted wife, Denise Meyer; his children, Kyla Meyer and Jaydon Meyer; his stepchildren, Ashley Corrion and Andrew Corrion; his grandchildren, Kathryn, Mekailah, and Isaiha Corrion; his brothers, Raymond Meyer and Doug Meyer; and his sister, Wendy Wise.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on April 11, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Abiding Peace Lutheran Church, 401 Batesville Rd.,
Simpsonville, SC 29681.
Kurt's absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his love & laughter remain deeply rooted. He will be remembered for his courage, his compassion, his wisdom, and the joy he brought into every day. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and in the family who will forever carry his light. Kurt's favorite scripture was John 17:17 "Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth."
