Sylvia Thomas Obituary

Sylvia Russ Thomas, 83, widow of Cameron Dexter Thomas, Jr., of Beaufort, SC, died Saturday, March 21, 2026 at The Oaks of Beaufort.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 10am to 11am at Anderson Funeral Home. Funeral will follow at 11am in Carl Anderson Memorial Chapel with burial in Beaufort Memorial Gardens.

Sylvia was born on September 22, 1942, in FarmVille, VA. She is the daughter of the late Grady Russ and Daisy Hargett Russ.

Sylvia's incredible ability to play the piano was unique in the fact that she could read music as well as play by ear. She had a talent that could transform a simple hymn into a beautiful performance of her own creative style. She used her gift to glorify the Lord by playing the piano for 60 plus years at St. Helena Baptist Church. Sylvia's strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was deeply important to her. She was a current member of Community Bible Church.

Surviving are one son, Cameron "Rick" Dexter Thomas, III (Sherry); one daughter, Cindy Smith (Vince); six grandchildren and six great grandchildren with one on the way.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to a Hospice agency of their choice.
