Wilson Alexander Crone CHARLOTTE, NC - Known to all his family and friends as a loving, kind, patient and thoughtful son, brother, cousin and friend, Wilson Alexander Crone entered into eternal rest on February 11, 2024. His funeral service will be held Friday, February 16, 2024, in St. Philip's Church, 142 Church St., Charleston, SC, at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Rd., Mt. Pleasant, SC. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mt. Pleasant Chapel. Wilson was born on January 28, 1998, to Mr. and Mrs. Steven Glenn Crone (Paige). He was raised in the Christian faith by his family and godmothers, Mrs. Marion Gilchrist Brown and Mrs. Elizabeth Felder McDermott. He was consistently active in youth groups, was confirmed and served as an acolyte at St. Philip's Church in Charleston. Just as his mother had done, as a young man he attended dancing school at South Carolina Society Hall in Charleston and later served as a Marshall in the Charleston Cotillion. He played football, soccer and basketball with passion and determination. Wilson graduated with honors in 2016 from Wando High School and was selected to be a member of the Wando Beta Club, an organization seeking to cultivate the ideals of service and leadership in citizens of tomorrow which was something Wilson strongly believed in. He shared his mother's interest in government and civics and served as a Page for U.S. Senator Tim Scott (S.C.) after his sophomore year in High School. He went on to the University of South Carolina where he was a distinguished member of the Darla Moore School of Business and was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, the professional business fraternity where he cultivated numerous dear friends. While at USC he returned to Washington to intern for Senator Scott after his Junior year and went on to study abroad in Spain. Wilson earned a Bachelor of Science in Operations and Supply Chain from USC in 2020. After graduation, Wilson began his professional life in Charlotte, North Carolina, first working in big tech and then moving into corporate catering. Though he lived in Charlotte, he frequently visited the west coast for work and was widely respected in the industry. Wilson loved his loyal companion labrador, Boca, and was devoted to her happiness and care. During his high school years, Wilson attended Windy Gap Younglife Camp in North Carolina. He expressed his testimony of faith after attending a session there as "God became a father figure in my life that I turn to when I am bothered. I speak to him at night and I have learned He works in very subtle ways. He wants me to grow from experiences." And grow he did. Into a beloved young man and gentlemen who had a promising and beautiful earthly life ahead of him and now is with the Father he trusted and believed in. Wilson was always polite, sensitive, compassionate and kind. He would light up when he saw his family and friends, he never met a stranger, made everyone feel welcome and included, and kept everyone laughing and constantly reminded them how much he cared. He was mature beyond his years and family and friends referred to him as an "old soul." He and his father and brother shared a love of football and basketball and spent countless hours enjoying games. They especially enjoyed their trips to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Building the fire on the porch, commiserating and spending time together brought him great joy. He and Christian, his brother and best friend, loved hanging out together, watching games and just being together. Wilson was predeceased in death by his grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Macturious (Mac) Canaday, Jr. (Dianne Carol Wilson) and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lawrence Crone (Ethel JoAnne "Jody"), and his best friend, Legare Thrower. Wilson is survived by his brother, Christian Glenn Crone; great aunts, Eileen Wilson Blackwell and Virginia Wilson Flanagin; cousins, Deborah Blackwell Munchmeyer, William Rexford Munchmeyer (Godson), Meredith Anne Blackwell, Tate Flanagin Hewitt, Wiley Stewart Flanagin, III, Ellie Jeanette and Avery Lillian Flanagin; and, step-grandmother, Gayle Canaday and her daughter, Valerie Lofgren Mckernan and son, Robert Lofgren; and cousins, Garrett, Amanda and Robert Mckernan. A multitude of dear friends and colleagues join the family in mourning the passing of Wilson. He will be greatly missed by his Uncle Jay and Aunt Wendy, Reid Gilchrist, Joe Sternberg, Maddie Lacman and so many others who adored him.
