I have been Willie Forrest's neighbor for over 24 years. He is the kindest man that I have ever met. Totally unselfish, he has offered his hands in help as a neighbor over and over in more ways than I could count. I will always remember his wise advice to me and to all who passed as he sat on his porch. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

To Sis. Boston and Family, Our deepest sympathy goes out to you and the family. I did not know Mr. Forrest was your father until the name was announced in church on Sunday and I saw the newspaper. My family and I have had the privilege of meeting your father in the late 70's as we moved into 9 Thomas Street. Yor father was a kind and generous man, always giving and willing to lend a helping hand. We always will remember him as having that spiffy walk. And he never forgot a face. We know that you will miss your loved one. Our prayers are with you and the family that the Lord will strenghten you one day at a time. May God continue to bless all of you and bring you the comfort needed at this time. With our deepest condolences, Shirley McPherson and Family

To The Forrest family:
Owning the house next to Mr. Forrest for the past 22 years has been a joy. Mr Forrest always looked after us and helped out everyone in the neighborhood. He brought us fresh shrimp and always a kind word! We loved to hear him talk about his family and to see the pride he took in his home. He sat on his porch and spoke to everyone that passed by....the "Mayor" of the neighborhood will be missed! Our thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

TENANT '92 THANK YOU FOREVER

August 27, 2007

TO THE FAMILY:
I AM A FORMER TENANT OF MR. FOREST AND I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH YOU SOME OF MY FONDEST MEMORIES OF HIM: WHEN I WAS INTRODUCED TO HIM, THE FIRST IMPRESSION THAT I GOT WAS THAT HE APPRECIATED WHAT GOD HAD BLESSED HIM TO ACCOMPLISH IN HIS LIFE. HE TOLD ME THE STORY OF HIS DAYS AT THE SHIP YARD (I BELIEVE IT WAS) AND HOW IT ONLY TOOK HIM A FEW YEARS TO OWN HIS HOME. HE WAS SO PROUD! HE SPOKE OF HIS CHILDREN AND HOW PROUD OF THEM HE WAS. I REMEMBER THAT HE LOVED WHITING FISH (I KNOW IT WAS FISH). HE WOULD KNOCK ON THE STEPS TO ANNOUNCE THAT HE WAS ON THE FLOOR. WHEN IT WAS RENT TIME, HE WOULD GIVE HALF OF IT BACK TO ME BEC. HE UNDERSTOOD. I SPEAK OF THAT EVEN NOW AND I'VE LEARNED TO DO THE SAME FOR OTHERS. I WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH THE WAY THAT HE KEPT HIS HOME, BOTH INSIDE AND OUT (IMMACULATE). HE WAS VERY ENCOURAGING TO ME, I KNOW AND DO PRACTICE THE BELIEF THAT ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE---AND TO NOT ONLY BELIEVE, BUT ALSO TO WORK TOWARDS THAT WHICH I BELIEVE THAT I CAN HAVE. I JUST DIDN'T KNOW THAT BLACK PEOPLE COULD OWN SUCH LUXURY/ I'M SURE HE WAS THE ENVY OF MANY OF THOSE WHO WANTED HIS PROPERTY,BUT WEREN'T ABLE TO PERSUADE HIM TO DO OTHERWISE. LASTLY, I REMEMBER HIM MAKING MENTION OF A DINNER THAT HE WOULD GIVE (I THINK ON FATHER'S DAY I BELIEVE) AT THE CHURCH. IT'S BEEN SOMETIME SINCE I LAST SAW HIM, BUT WHEN I SAW HIM LAST HE WAS RIDING HIS BIKE SO, WHAT DOES THAT SAY ABOUT HIS CHARACTER....TIME WAITS FOR NO MAN AND A MAN'S GOTTA DO WHAT A MAN WANTS TO DO TO GET TO WHERE HE WANTS TO GET TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
