William Klaiber Obituary

Bill, I tried to find you for years after you left for the Navy. I owed you $200 on that old Harley I bought from you, and I wanted to pay you.

I was trying one more time, and came across your obit. I guess I'll see you on the other side.

On behalf of the USS Henry L Stimson SSBN655 Association, I offer you our sincere condolences on Bill's passing. We grieve with you on the loss of your loved one and our shipmate. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. There is no expiration date on the back of our dolphins and Bill will always be remembered as a Brother of the Phin, a Stimson shipmate and a great Patriot.

Bill was a shipmate and a friend of mine on the Henry L. Stimson Gold crew before and during the early 70s shipyards. He will be missed.

I have been trying to find yall. I happen to look up Mr.Bill's name and saw this. My heart breaks with yall. I remember him singing "Cotton Fields" with my dad, Jessie Salters. They were in the Navy together. Best friends. Ya'll used to live next door to us on Iowa Ct.in College Park, then moved. I babysat Robert & Jason until we moved. Ya'll are in my thoughts and prayers. Sorry to read of Bill's passing. He was a shipmate on the NATHAN HALE. Very knowledgeable and very helpful to me learning the ventilation system on submarines. I can still hear him say "You are a particle of air. Describe how you get from the engineroom to the torpedoroom." He knew how to train people. Especially yeomen!

I never told Bill how much we appreciated how they took Paul in as a member of their family. Bill stood up and became a father to Paul teaching him how to be an honorable man. We will never forget his laughter and bright smile. All that knew Bill will say he was truly a good man, who will always be remembered with kindness and strength. With all my love. Gloria
