You were the best friend that anyone could have. You taught me so much about life and the true meaning of integrity. You have always been a man of your word. You stuck by me through thick and thin since I first met you in 2003. I will never forget you and you will always be in my heart. your service was out standing you would have smiled.

To Angel, and the Family, Friends, and Brothers-in-Arms of CPO (ret) William Heckmann, please accept my most humble condolences on your tragic loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all, and I pray that God Bless and keep you in this terrible time.

I had the Honor of meeting Bill on his very first Patriot Guard mission when he stood the funeral for my son's good friend, SSG Matthew Taylor on September 28, 2008. SSG Taylor was Killed in Action in Iraq on his third tour on 21SEP08.

Bill was a Patriot all of his life, and I was blessed to have our paths cross. Thank you Bill, for all you have done for this Nation.

It was an Honor to stand for Bill at his Final Formation, and rest assured, he will not be forgotten.

Bill, I am going to miss you greatly as you were a great inspiration to me. I was the "baby" on your 9-ball team, the newest member. I will always remember that big smile you always had, especially after you made a difficult shot on the pool table. You also cooked a mean steak.
God's speed, my friend,
Sam

Bill, you will be greatly missed. I was thinking the other day of a poem that you put in the Tripwire one month about how people disregard bikers on the road and that poem changed my view of bikers. I was one of those people who didn't pay attention. Once I met you and your biker friends I realized that you guys are some of the most dedicated, hard working, fun loving people I've ever known. That poem changed my view of bikers and I hope it helped alot of people see you guys as everyday peolple with jobs, families and normal everyday goings on. I learned a great deal about the VFW from you while serving on the House Committee and as Publicity Chair. I will miss you everytime I enter the VFW and know that you will not be there to make me laugh. God Bless and I hope to see you again on the other side.

Above all my deepest condolences go out to the family with special prayers to Ashlyn that he was so proud of. Bill was a very good friend & will always be remembered in my heart. I played on both his pool teams & he couldn't hit in a straight shot, he always had to bank it. I nicknamed him Mr. Drysdale (the banker) & he took right to the name. I will miss you very much.
Love,
Miss Hathaway

Bill was a genuine good person, always going out of his way to make sure others were comfortable. He was in "host" mode all the time. It is so very sad he was taken so young. I weep for his family and friends and pray they may find comfort in knowing what an all round "good" guy he always was. We will miss him.
