Willard Kreidler Obituary

Willard E. Kreidler "Bill" MYRTLE BEACH - Willard E. "Bill" Kreidler, 85, of Myrtle Beach passed peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, January 22, 2010 after a brief and painless battle with cancer. He was born to the late Everett and Grace Kreidler, September 5, 1924, in Tilden, NE. He graduated from high school in Neligh, NE, in 1942 and then attended Business College in Omaha. In 1944, he married Jessie Bell of Loris, SC, his wartime bride and wife of 65 years. Bill joined the Army Air Corps in 1942 and became a B-25 pilot flying from Alaska during World War II. After a brief separation from active duty, he was recalled by the Air Force and was stationed in New Mexico, Germany, Bermuda, and South Carolina flying a multitude of aircraft. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel at Charleston AFB in 1969. Bill and Jessie then relocated to Myrtle Beach where they were the owners and operators of the Bar Harbor Motor Inn until 2004. A long time member of the Order of Daedalians, Bill was an ardent pilot who loved flying. He was a dedicated golfer who scored six holes-in-one and played until just a few weeks ago. He also loved cruising the waterway in his yacht "Scattercat." Survived by his wife Jessie; son Bruce Kreidler and wife Sharon of Alexandria, VA; daughter Kay Loftus and husband Gary of Surfside Beach, SC; grandsons Kyle Loftus, Grayson Kreidler and his wife Amy, and Keith Loftus; and two great-granddaughters Amylea and Ainsley Kreidler. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home with Dr. J Kirk Lawton, Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow at Southeastern Memorial Gardens with military honors. Visitation will be from 5-7 on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at the funeral home. The family would appreciate any gifts of remembrance to be made to one's choice. "Colonel" Bill Kreidler - military pilot, golfer and friend. Visit our guestbook at www.postandcourier.com/deaths

Dear Ms Jessie, I'm Evrette Hatch, a member of Daedalian flight 77.. I don't believe we have ever met, but I have known Col. Keidler through this flight. He was a true gentleman, golfer, and loved to talk about his experiences in aviation. He will certainly be missed. God Bless You and your family, especially Kyle, a friend of mine, too.

Bill Kreidler. Solid Friend, dedicated great golfer, true gentlemen, loyal patriot, most congenial host, real business expert. Can only describe Bill Kreidler with super superlatives. He was great with his family, great with friends, and just generally great to be around. He made you feel good to be there. Too many acts of friendship and love to disscuss here, but one most remembered was the outstanding care and love he gave his parents during their last years. It showed Bill's true being.
Jessie, Kay, Bruce and all the family: We love being part of your extended family and will always treasure the memories that you, Bill, Doc, and Miss Sug gave us. Remember, Bill has soared where common man has never trod, and now, has reached out his hand and touched the face of God. We love all of you and though we can't be with you at this time, please know that we are there with you in thought, spirit and prayer. God bless each of you. Bob and Betty Patterson.
