BAILEY, II, Whitmarsh Entered into eternal rest on the evening of February 2, 2007, surrounded by his loving family and after living life to its fullest, Whitmarsh Seabrook Bailey II, Residence, Charleston, SC. The Relatives and friends of Mr. & Mrs. Whitmarsh S. Bailey, II are invited to attend the funeral services of the former on Tuesday February 6, 2007 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC.,WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, at 11.o'clock. Interment, Live Oaks Memorial Gardens. Friends and family may call Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel Monday from five until seven o'clock. Whitmarsh Bailey was born in Charleston County, SC, August 10,1923 and raised in the Charleston Orphan House the son of Benjamin and Mattie Jeffcoat Bailey. He was a retired Federal Special Agent with Alcohol, Firearms and Tobacco Agency. Mr. Bailey was a veteran of World War II and was awarded both the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was a member of the 517th Parachute Infantry Regiment and participated in Normandy Invasion and was in the Battle of The Bulge. He was a graduate of The Citadel, Class of 1949 and was a member of the Citadel Alumni Association, Charleston Running Club and the West Ashley Cronies Poker Club. Whitmarsh attended Sycamore Baptist church. Surviving are his wife of sixty years, Catherine Gratzick Bailey, of Charleston, SC. Two Daughters, Karen Bailey McDonald and her husband Craig of Charleston, SC; Marsha Bailey Wood and her husband John of Charleston, SC; a son, Whitmarsh Seabrook Bailey III, and his wife Denise of Motrose, CO; Two sisters Kathleen Bailey White and Ruth Bailey Gatch both of Charleston, SC. Four Grandchildren; Alex McDonald, Lauren Wold, Lori and Stephanie Bailey. A great grandchild, Nick Bailey and loyal companion Tucker. Numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Bailey was predeceased by a sister Rose Bailey Sneed; a brother, Benjamin Bailey and a grandson Matthew Bailey McDonald.
