Walter Levern Canady N. CHARLETON - Walter Levern Canady, age 85, of North Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 11, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Osborn, SC, on November 3, 1925, to the late Ben B. Canady and Ella Harris Canady. He was a friendly man who never met a stranger. He love to cook, enjoyed traveling, and was a car enthusiast. He loved his dogs, Trixie and Friskie. He was a former preacher, and a deacon at Holmes Avenue Baptist Church, North Charleston. He was a member of the Sons of the Confederacy, and a member of member of the Friendship # 400 AFM Masonic Lodge. Mr. Canady is survived by his wife: Mary Catherine Canady of North Charleston SC; daughters: Cheryl Ann Thomas of Summerville SC, Linda Janette Owen (Mark) of Summerville SC, Barbara Brueckner (Samuel) of New Bern NC; sons: Ronnie Walter Canady of Summerville SC, and Donnie Levern Canady of North Charleston SC; step children: Dian Heiermann of North Charleston SC, and Bobby Kite of North Charleston SC; 15 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Holmes Avenue Baptist Church, 4602 Durant Avenue North Charleston, SC 29405. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston SC. The family is gratefully accepting floral tributes in Walter Canady's honor.
