Violet Tyler Obituary

TYLER, Violet LAMAR-Violet Fenters Tyler, 86, died Sunday July 29, 2007 at the Methodist Manor of the Pee Dee. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Wednesday, August 1, in Lamar United Methodist Church, with burial following in Lamar Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home. Mrs. Tyler was born in Georgetown County, daughter of the late Thomas J. and Mettie Harrell Fenters. She was a school teacher in the Darlington County School System until her retirement. Mrs. Tyler was a member of Lamar United Methodist Church, where her late husband, Rev. Royce Burnam Tyler, was pastor for 26 years. She was also a member of the Sue Stewart Circle. Surviving are two sons, Rodney Nolan (Barbara) Tyler of Moncks Corner, Burnan Craig (Gilda) Tyler of Lexington, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, three sisters, Richard (Mildred) Douglas of New Ellington, Walter (Jackie) Elliott of Summerville, Wilbur (Barbara) Ivey of Hemingway, and a daughter-in-law, Elaine Tyler of Tipton, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Tommy Royce Tyler, and brothers, Earl and Emerson Fenters. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Tuesday night at Belk Funeral Home, Lamar.
