Vernon Weeks Obituary

WEEKS, Vernon HOLLY HILL Specialist Vernon Montey Weeks, 21, currently stationed at Fort Campbell, KY, and formerly of Holly Hill, died Saturday, August 18, 2007 in Nashville, TN. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at AVINGER FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL IN HOLLY HILL with Rev. Mike Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Hill Cemetery. A native of Holly Hill, Monty was the son of Vernon M. Weeks, III, and Donna Quattlebaum Weeks Garland. He attended Holly Hill-Roberts High School and was currently serving at Fort Campbell, KY training as a truck driver for redeployment (2nd tour) to Iraq. He was a former member of the 302 MI BN HHSC in Wiesbaden, Germany where he was a generator mechanic. An avid outdoorsman, Monty enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a NASCAR enthusiast. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Grace Weeks. Monty received numerous awards and was an outstanding soldier who led his battalion in his level of expertise. He will be remembered as a wonderful son, brother, friend, and husband and will be dearly missed. Surviving are his wife, Allison Phipps Weeks of Greenville, NC; mother of Harleyville; father and stepmother, Theresa, of Holly Hill; brother, Darrien Weeks of Holly Hill; grandparents, Wade and Jackie Quattlebaum of Ridgeville; Doris Weeks of Eutawville, and Mary Bolen of Vance; and a special friend, Peggy Scott of Holly Hill. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 81 Gadsden St., Charleston, SC 29401.
