Thomas Wiand Obituary

Thomas Alden Wiand SUMMERVILLE - Thomas Alden Wiand, widower of Shizue Funamato Wiand, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2011. The relatives and friends of Thomas are invited to attend his Memorial Service at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 3 pm. The burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel. Casual dress is preferred. Mr. Wiand was born January 25, 1934, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, the son of the late Lawrence Kelly Wiand and Ruth Dulaney Wiand. He was a 23 year veteran of the US Navy serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He served aboard the USS Goodrich, the USS Yellowstone, and the USS Orion. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and Ford Mustangs; above all, he loved his family and the beach. Surviving are his children: Linda Bennett and husband Phil of Lilburn, GA, Patty Sineath and husband Robbie of Lumber Bridge, NC, Tim Wiand and wife Julie of N. Charleston and Tracy Wiand of Suffolk, VA; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.
