Thomas Hafner Obituary

Thomas M. Hafner DANIEL ISLAND - Thomas M. Hafner (78) of Daniel Island, SC, is now with the Lord after battling complications from Alzheimer's Disease for 5+ years. His precious life was from August 8, 1943 to August 15, 2021. He is the son of the late Rev. Theodore Hafner and Josephine (Herpolsheimer) Hafner, brother of late infant, Teddy Hafner, and nephew of late Paula Herpolsheimer. He was born in Evansville, Indiana., and grew up in Dover, Delaware. He studied at Valparaiso University, graduating with a BA in Political Science ('65) and JD ('68). He was married to the Joy of his life for 54 years. His memory lives on in wife, Joy, and children and grandchildren: Mark T. (Kellye)-Annalise and Justin, Sharon J. Patrick (Chip)-Madison Christian (Josh) and Trey, Matthew T.(Janie Kay)-Josh and Megan, Michael T., Martin T. (Ren)-Hanna. Also fondly remembered by sister-in-law, Nancy Slinkard, nephew, Ryan Slinkard (Debbie), Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, friends, and coworkers. Many thanks to all family, caregivers, hospice workers, and friends who participated in Tom's life and care. Special thanks to John Porter for crafting a very meaningful memorial box for Tom. Please join us for a celebration of Tom's life on Sunday, Sept. 19 at 2pm ET in the chapel at Seacoast Church on Long Point Rd. in Mount Pleasant. Pastor Michael Morris of Seacoast Church and Deacon Laura Bowman of Holy Cross Anglican Church will officiate. Masks and social distancing are required due to COVID-19. Alternately, the service will be livestreamed at live.seacoast.org.
