Thomas Gladden Obituary

Thomas Gladden AWENDAW - Thomas Joseph "Tommy" Gladden, 64, of Awendaw, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at Goldbug Island on Saturday, June 21, 2025, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mt. Pleasant Chapel. Born on January 13, 1961, in Charleston, South Carolina, Tommy was the son of the late James Edward Gladden and the late Leonie Margaret Herring. A lifelong entrepreneur and proud local business owner, Tommy dedicated his professional life to running C&M Automotive, where he built not just a business, but lasting relationships throughout the community. He was also a longtime member of the East Cooper Outboard Motor Club, where he cherished many meaningful friendships. Tommy is survived by his two beloved sons, Thomas J. "Joey" Gladden, Jr. (Carleigh) and Jerry E. Gladden (Olivia), both of Charleston, SC. He was a devoted grandfather to Thomas, Mills, and Sutton Gladden, and Malia, Hunter, and Jerry Gladden Jr. - his grandchildren were the light of his life and brought him immeasurable joy. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Laura, who meant the world to him. Known for his ingenuity, generous spirit, and deep love for his family and friends, Tommy touched countless lives. He was loved by many and had an incredible network of friends who will miss his presence dearly. His legacy lives on in the memories shared by all who knew him, and in the values he instilled in his family - hard work, loyalty, and love. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East Cooper Outboard Beneficent Group, Inc., PO Box 225, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29465. Happy Father's Day, Dad. We love you and will miss you so much. Love, Joey and Jerry. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr. A memorial message may be sent to the family by visiting www.jhenrystuhr.com.
