In the world we live today, where all other relationships are slowly losing their authenticity, it is friendship, which in some cases stands the test of time, and lasts forever. Good, genuine friends are very difficult to find, and when we do find them, we should treasure them forever. I will always treasure our friendship and the many good times we shared. I loved Teresa like a sister and will be forever grateful to have been her friend. Family always came first with Teresa. I will miss my dear friend but so blessed to have known her and to have been included in her family growing up. God bless.

Dear Teresa's family
We shared a birthday and were classmates at NWHS. Our birth announcements in the Kokomo tribune were side by side (Cynthia Lynn Small). Teresa and I loved our art classes at NW. One day she threw away a painting she was unhappy with. I rescued it and had it framed. It still hangs in my home. She was a great artist and sweet friend.

God bless both you Sonya and Blake! My thoughts and prayers are with you both and your family.
Your mother was special to so many people, but to me she was encouraging, compassionate, integrity, and grace. She cared not only for the students she taught, but her fellow teachers as well.
I know you all have great and wonderful memories of a Mother who loved you deeply with pride, compassion, understanding, and a true sense of responsibility. Her faith was her greatess asset for sh lived what she believed. She is with Jesus now. She is healed and will wait for you to join her when your time comes. Take her love and all she has taught you through her example with you always.
My thoughts and prayers are with you!

To the family of Teresa Von Oordt, I was one of her students a few years ago and I had her for two years and she was just an amazing person. She always lit up the room and made everyone smile and told us no matter what, anyone can make art. She was a wonderful person and amazing teacher and she will be missed.

Mrs. Von Oordt was a great person. I had her for two years in middle school and my mother had her as an art teacher when she was in school. She was such a great teacher and always knew how to make people smile. She always said that anyone could make art and art isn't always the best looking piece in the collection. She was an amazing person who will go to heaven leavin an ever lasting effect on everyone she met and taught. She will be heavily missed.

Dear Blake, Sonya, and family,

As a fellow student at Manchester College, I remember Teresa's warmth and sense of humor. After so many years, I can still hear her voice and her laughter. I loved to see her art and found inspiration in how she could take common objects and create something unique. You have my deepest sympathy for your loss that touches me even across the passage of time and distance.

As a fellow art teacher I came to meet Teresa through our beginning of the school year meetings. She came across to me as a very sincere and kind individual. Through the many years we would see each other on occasion and my first impression of her was only strengthened. Teresa's smile and gentle manner will never be forgotten by me or most importantly by the hundreds of students that graced her classroom. God bless you Teresa as you have been a blessing to us all.

Sonya, Blake, and family,

In August 1970, Teresa' s beaming smile met me at Garver Hall on freshman move in day. She was welcoming and helped to carry my belongings to the 3rd floor. Her enthusiasm was encouraging to my new life at Manchester College. We have been friends since that day. Over the years
she has encouraged her children, family, friends, & students. Her life was a
blessing to anyone who knew her. I will never forget her kindness in
August 1970.

Teresa was dearly loved by so many-she will be remembered with fondness. She raised Blake to become a wonderful man-it is through him that I came to know his Mom.

We are grieving the loss of Teresa on this earth, along with you all. She was my best friend since first grade. The thin, braided pig-tail girl was my school bus seat mate for 12 years! We were always in the same classes and activities - even 4-H! We could have been sisters.

She was smart, kind and sweet - always delightful! Her command of the water color brush always amazed me - even in Mrs. Munroe's summer art classes in the VW bus!!

I'm so glad we stayed in touch and made time for each other during the summers. She is a forever friend. I can't wait to see her in Heaven!

With great love and sadness,
Jeannine Fortier

Dear Blake, Sonya and other family members,y heart is filled with sadness that we can no longer talk to or see Teresa; however, I am very glad that she has been lifted up to see Jesus where there is no more pain. Thank you for such a wonderful soul in Teresa as she was a great example to all the children and adults Teresa has touched while on this Earth!
