Summerville - It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Tara Bussjager, on February 14th, 2026 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Bussjager.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, whose kindness, strength and love touched those who knew her. Tara enjoyed a long successful career with the airlines and in residential real estate. She will be remembered for her strong spirit, passion for animals, travel, gardening, books and telling stories.

She is survived by her two children, Justin Bussjager (Shar) and Taryn Bussjager; John's children, Chris Bussjager (Amelia) and Erica Swift (Geno); many relatives and dear friends. While many knew her as Tara, her favorite title was "Oma" given to her by her four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the family home, 490 Barfield Dr, Summerville, SC 29485 on Saturday, March 7th. She will permanently rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery in her cherished Chicago with her husband, John.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary or St. Theresa the Little Flower Catholic Church.
