Stephen Toole Obituary

Stephen Lawrence Toole HOLLYWOOD, SC - Stephen Lawrence Toole, 69, of Hollywood, SC, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2024 in the company of his loving wife, Rhonda. Steve was born on October 24, 1954 in Charleston, SC. Steve attended North Charleston High School from 1967 to 1972, then went on to attend the University of South Carolina, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in 1976. On November 2, 1984, Steve met the love of his life, Rhonda, on a blind date. They got married on March 8, 1986 and enjoyed 38 wonderful years of marriage together. They spent their marriage raising their family, sharing adventures, and celebrating life's moments. In the last few years, they enjoyed traveling the world together visiting numerous European countries and cities. Steve was active in every aspect of his sons' lives; whether it was coaching soccer, volunteering at school events, or helping fundraise for field trips. He enjoyed staying close to home, attending Gamecocks football games with his youngest son, Alexander. He also enjoyed music from artists such as The Beatles and The Moody Blues, and enjoyed seeing some of his favorite artists in concert, such as Chris de Burgh and Nils Lofgren. Throughout high school and college, he worked for Shoney's. After college, he entered the snack business in various positions working for companies such as Wise, Frito Lay and Dolly Madison. He then worked for Little Debbie (McKee Foods Corporation) as a District Sales Manager, retiring in 2015 after 20 years with the company. After a couple years of leisure, Steve worked part-time at Hendrick Lexus of Charleston, where he remained until he fully entered retirement in March of 2022. He is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda Lominac Toole of Hollywood, SC; his sons, Charles Toole of Franklin, NC and Alexander Toole of Charlotte, NC; his brother, Cary Toole (Beth) of Mount Pleasant, SC; and numerous extended family members. Steve is predeceased by his parents, Norman Cary Toole and Margaret Tiller Toole; and sister, Margaret "Peggy" Bozard. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, May 19, 2024 in The Boathouse at Poplar Grove, 4245 Ten Shillings Way, Ravenel, SC 29470 at 1:00 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The ALS Association to help further global research and to help others living with the disease. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel. I was a neighbor of Steve and Rhonda for a few years. Steve was just the nicest guy ever. My older father lived with me at the time. Dad was in the hospital and then rehab for a while. The day I brought Dad home from rehab, when we got home, there is Steve and another neighbor waiting, to make sure I was able to get Dad out of the car and into the house.
