Roberta Eagerton MT. PLEASANT - Roberta "Berta" Elliott Eagerton, 91, died Sunday, February 3, 2013 at The Hospice of Charleston, in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Miss Eagerton was born March 20, 1921 in St. Stephen, SC and was the third eldest of ten children of the late Henry Council Eagerton and Cleo Elliott Eagerton. She graduated from Pinewood High School and served with the Women's Army-Air Corps during World War II. She worked many years with Roper Hospital in Admissions, after which she attended her mother after her father's death and after her mother's loss of vision. Her most recent and joyous employment was with David and Ginger McCann, caring for their son, Brendan from four months of age and Anna since birth until their early teen years. The McCann family felt blessed to have Roberta as part of their family. Surviving is one brother, Robert S. Eagerton of Summerton, SC; four sisters, Caroline DesChamps Waterbury of San Antonio, TX, Josephine Wallace of Columbia, Adaline Godard of Williamston, NC, Claire Snyder and her husband Bob Snyder of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and 22 nieces, nephews and their children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Henry Charles Eagerton; three sisters, Agnes Green, Ruth Taylor and Pauline McLeod; six brothers-in-law, Ralph Green, Wade "Boots" Taylor, Robert "Bob" Waterbury, Elwood "Jiggs" McLeod, Charles "Chuck" Wallace and Grady Godard; four nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday at Pisgah Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery with Rev. D. L. Barwick officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M.
