Robert Hancock Obituary

Robert "Bobby" Osborne Hancock HANAHAN - Robert Osborne Hancock, husband of Cheryl Robbins Hancock, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. The Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 11a.m. at Yeamans Park Presbyterian Church, 5931 Murray Ave., Hanahan. The Service of Committal will be held at Live Oak Memorial Gardens following the worship. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at J. Henry Stuhr, Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Rd., North Charleston. Mr. Hancock, known to family and friends as Bobby, was born on October 1, 1943, in Charleston. He was the son of the late Charles W. Hancock and Mary Osborne Hancock, and was raised in Hanahan and was graduated from Hanahan High School. He was in the Navy Seabees for four years, and served in Vietnam. Mr. Hancock was retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard and later from Mi-Tech, Inc. Bobby Hancock was kind and caring, humble and grateful, thoughtful and loving. He loved nature, all animals, and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed boating, fishing, and hunting. Most of all, he loved his family and his church family. He was a longtime member of Yeamans Park Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder, and a member of the Building and Grounds Committee for many years. Mr. Hancock is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl, with whom he recently celebrated a 50th wedding anniversary; his son and good friend, Jonathan Robert Hancock; his daughter-in-law, Melissa, whom he claimed and loved as a daughter; his granddaughter, Lillie Hancock, whom he adored; his brother, Wayne Hancock; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gary and Gloria Robbins Davis, and Ray and Deborah Orvin. He is also survived by three nephews, Chuck Hancock, Christopher Davis and Jeremy Davis, to whom he was especially close; and his uncle and his wife, Jack and Ursula Osborne. He was predeceased by his brother, William Hancock, and a special Aunt, Clara Osborne. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Yeamans Park Presbyterian Church or to a charity of choice. I worked with Bobby at Charleston Naval Shipyardin the 70's. He was a great machinist, a Navy veteran and always a great man. Kind, polite and level headed is what Bobby Hancock was. We were church buddies at Yeamas Park Presbyterian Church in Hanahan on the building and grounds committee. I miss you already Bobby.

Bobby was one of the good guys. He was quiet and a friend to everyone
he met. I first met Bobby while working in the Nuclear section of Shop 31.
He was a good Machinist and one you always rely on.
I just recently reconnected with Bobby on the phone and had planned
on visiting with him during an upcoming visit back home.
Bobby will be missed by family, friends, those that collaborated with him
and by me. Prayers for the repose of Bobby´s soul and for the Hancock
family and close friends during their time of grief.

Good memories of work with Bobby´s wife, Cheryl. I remember when Jonathan was born, so that was many years ago. Condolences to the entire family and you´re in my prayers. Rest In Peace.
