Robert Caison Obituary

Robert B. Caison, Jr. MACEDONIA, SC - Robert B "Sonny" Caison, Jr., 80, of Macedonia, affectionately known as "Honey" by his grandchildren, was surrounded by his family when he went to be with our Lord on August 2, 2013. Mr. Caison was born May 22, 1933 in Macedonia, S.C., a son of Robert Benjamin Caison, Sr. and Pauline Judy Caison. After graduating from Macedonia School, he joined the U. S. Navy, serving from 1951 - 1955, during the Korean War. When honorably discharged in 1955, he began working at the Charleston Naval Shipyard while he served in the U. S. Navy Reserve. His career began as a Sailmaker, then a Rigger/Diver, retiring in 1988 as a Ship Superintendent. After retirement, when he wasn't traveling with his wife, Joan, of 56 years, you could always find him at his beloved "Lazy C". He loved Bluegrass music and spending Saturday nights at the Pickin' Parlor. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of Macedonia Christian Church, and also a member of American Legion Post 126. He is survived by his "Darlin" wife, Joan Infinger Caison; his sons - Mark L. Caison and his wife, Allison; and David S. Caison and his wife, Jeanne and his grandchildren (the apples of his eyes) Robert, Haley and Emily; his nieces - Marsha Powell and Theresa Hilton; a special great nephew, Phillip Amerson; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Roberta Fazenbaker. The funeral service honoring Mr. Caison's life will be held at Macedonia Christian Church, Tuesday morning, August 6, 2013, at 11 o'clock. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, directed by Russell Funeral Chapel, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends at Russell Funeral Chapel Monday evening, August 5, 2013 between 6 and 8 o'clock. Memorials may be made to Macedonia Christian Church, 1165 Betsy Hole Road, Bonneau, S. C. 29431; or to Roper Hospice, 1483 Tobias Gadson, Suite 208-A; Charleston, S.C. 29407. Joan and family,
Talked to Jackie last night and learned
Sonny had pasted away. We enjoyed knowing you both the many times our paths met at all the bluegrass events. All his smiles and hugs he greeted us with so many times. He will be missed by many. Just know you all are in our prayers and thoughts.

To the Family of Robert B Caison Jr,
I attended school at Macedonia with R.B. and I knew him to be a great football player for our School, along with others in our class of '51. He was a faithful friend and a wonderful person to know. I know my life was greatly enriched by having known him during my school years and years later at our Class Reunions. His greeting was always with a great big "grin" and a welcome that was known to be real. He has left a big void that no one else can ever fill. I know he will be greatly missed by each family member, and now he is safely home with God whose love surpasses all. God's love will also abide with each of you at this difficult time also, as He knows YOUR loss is great but your loss is HIS GAIN! I know R.B. was welcomed in Heaven with his great "grin" and God's outstretched hands to Welcome him home. What a celebration that must be, as all who knew him here on earth feel blessed to have known him and we also celebrate that. God Bless each and all family members as you go forward in the coming days.

Sincerely,
Stella (Canady) Woodward (Classmate of '51)

Dear Joan, our hearts ache with you in the loss of your Sonny but we're thankful he's no longer sick. He was a prince of a man who we loved and respected and it was so evident to see how much the two of you loved one another. We'll miss his ever-present smile, hugs and kisses every time we met. Sonny was family to us and he's left us many cherished memories. Someone that special will never be forgotten. Mark and Allison and David and Jeanne, our prayers and our love are with you during this time in your lives. He spoke of all of you with so much pride. What a legacy your Dad has left to each of you and to Robbie, Haley, and Emily...he's touched the lives of so many others as well.

Joan, these words can't really help with your great loss but please know that you are very close in our every thought and prayer. If you need a friend to hold you, our arms are open wide. We love you dearly.
