Richard DeWayne Parks CHARLESTON - Richard (Rick, "Ricky") DeWayne Parks, 63, of Charleston South Carolina passed peacefully in his sleep January 1st, 2021. The family invites Rick's many friends to celebrate his life on Saturday, January 9th 3PM at Bowens Island Restaurant, 1870 Bowens Island Rd, Charleston, SC. Rick was born February 20, 1957 in Georgetown South Carolina to the late Marion B Parks Sr and Joyce Carter Parks. He graduated in 1975 from Middleton High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Honors from College of Charleston in 1979. He worked for Public Savings Life Insurance as the Vice President of Accounting and then as a Sales Team Lead with Monumental Life Insurance. Rick then launched his own private construction and renovation business for several years. He later then worked as an inventory subject matter expert for CarMax. He is survived by his three sons, Ashley Quinn Parks (wife Kelly, granddaugter Harper, grandson Carter) of Pasadena MD, Samuel Brooks Parks of Charleston SC, Tyler Richard Parks (wife Alexandra, step-grandsons Ethan and Luca) of Summerville SC, his stepson Jacob Joseph Yakubik of Orlando FL and by his siblings Marion B Parks Jr (wife Jaana) of Napanee Ontario Canada, James Alton Parks of North Charleston SC, Kathryn Marie Loudermilk (husband Michael) of Summerville SC, Steven Russell Parks of Charleston SC, Larry Neil Parks (wife Joy) of Columbia SC and Jeffrey Carter Parks of North Charleston SC. Rick was a devout sports fan, especially of Clemson football, and loved repeatedly beating the Post & Courier's Burger at the numbers. He was a brilliant carpenter and craftsman, his love for his family will live on through his creations. A lowcountry food connoisseur, he shared his love through his culinarian compositions. An accomplished Middleton HS athlete in football and baseball, he helped mold future generations through coaching with several youth sports organizations. He loved camping, fishing and the beach.
