He was 83. Mr. McMillan was born September 18, 1932 in the Colston Community of Bamberg County, a son of the late Lawrence Barbot McMillan and Kathleen Oswald McMillan. He retired from the South Carolina Army National Guard after thirty two years of service, was a retired employee of Georgia-Pacific in Walterboro, and was also the retired owner and operator of Rick's Service Center in Hampton. Rick was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Ehrhardt, where served as the Superintendent of Sunday School and was a member of several boards. From 2005 - 2013, he was a member of Palmetto Pride, and was well-known for selflessly picking up trash on both sides of Confederate Highway for nine miles. He loved his beloved dogs, Dabo and Maybelle. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Maija Givens of Lodge, Steven McMillan (Beth) of St. George, and Keith McMillan (Jennifer) of Lexington. He has a brother, L. There is one great-grandchild, Jayla Harper. Rick was preceded in death by a brother, Jarvis W. McMillan, and by a son-in-law, Toby Givens. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Agape Hospice for the excellent care given to Mr. McMillan during his final days. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 AM in the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, with burial following in the McMillan Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul St., Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
