Born on October 23, 1945, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Emery Davis and Marilyn Moore Davis. Dr. Davis was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and later moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he pursued his higher education. He earned his bachelor's degree from John Carroll University and went on to complete his Doctorate at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Davis dedicated his professional life to serving others. He worked at the Cleveland VA Hospital as a maxillofacial surgeon and served as Director of the Dental & Oral Surgery Department. In 2008, he and his family relocated to Summerville, South Carolina, where he enjoyed retirement. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who cherished time spent with family and loved ones. He especially enjoyed golfing, shopping, and had a passion for cars, particularly buying and selling them. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou Davis; his five sons: Jeffrey Scott Davis (Sandi) of Oshkosh, WI; Matthew Todd Davis of Fort Mill, SC; Kenneth Michael Davis (Silvia) of Houston, TX; William James Davis of Cleveland, OH; and Bennett Joseph Davis of Ridgeville, SC; seven grandchildren; and his sister, Patricia Ann Wymard of Pittsburgh, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Ryan; and his brothers, Charles E. Davis, John Clarke Davis, and Lewis James Davis.
