Francis Pandullo Obituary

Francis C. "Frank" Pandullo

Summerville - Francis C. ("Frank") Pandullo, 91, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on February 21, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, partner, brother, friend, mentor, and a steady, positive presence in the lives of many. Known for his perseverance, sincerity, and kindness, Frank approached life with quiet strength and gentle compassion.

Frank was born on April 2, 1934, on Staten Island, New York, to Frank and Mary Pandullo (née Yannone). He was raised in Mariners Harbor and attended local Catholic and public elementary schools before graduating from St. Peter's High School. He earned an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Manhattan College in 1955 and later earned a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the same institution.

At Manhattan College, Frank participated in ROTC and upon graduation served honorably for four years in the United States Air Force. During his tour of duty, he was as an Air Force Pilot assigned to the Strategic Air Command as an Aircraft Commander of KC-97 Mid-Air Refueling Operations.

After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Frank worked for several years at a civil engineering firm in New Jersey, then established his own firm which he ran until 1985. After that, he continued as an independent consultant for another 25 years. For last 10 years of career, Frank served as an Engineering Manager in the Charleston County Department of Public Works.

Frank built a meaningful career as a civil engineer, utilizing his technical skills, steady work ethic, and problem-solving mindset. His professionalism, reliability, and sense of responsibility earned the admiration of colleagues and clients alike. He was a licensed professional engineer in five states and achieved several levels of distinction in the municipal engineering field.

Frank married Alice Ann (nee' Cody) Pandullo, and together they were blessed with five children: Mariann Smith (Durham NC), Rich Pandullo (Durham NC), Carolyn Campbell (Statesville NC), Suzanne Ceravolo (Pompton Plains NJ), and Ann Marie Pandullo (Durham NC). He took pride in his growing family, which included 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him great joy.

Frank's relocation to the Charleston SC area in 2011 broadened his perspective and greatly enhanced his overall life experience. For the past eight years, he shared his life with loving partner, Joan Thompson, whose companionship enriched these later years. With Joan after retiring, he found peace in gardening and other outdoor activities. He appreciated classical music and good performances, often finding joy in quiet moments of culture and reflection.

He is survived by his partner, Joan Thompson; his sister, Sr. Mary Crucifix, C.S.B.; his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and many cherished relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Nicholas J. Pandullo.

Yesterday

We, my sisters and brothers, will always remember our Uncle Frank at Sunday dinners at his and Aunt Lucille´s house in Ocean City NJ with his 3 step daughters, the family vacay to Bogata, Columbia in 1981, and numerous events at Atlantic City Casinos. Our parents, Sonny and Pat, Uncle Frank and Aunt Lucille were instant best friends since he married into the family in 1979 and spent many many fun years together in Ocean City, NJ. A lifetime of great memories will live on in our thoughts.
