Ralph Smith JOHNS ISLAND - Funeral service for the late Ralph "Lefty" Smith will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, 1:00 P.M. at Greater St. John A.M.E. Church, 4326 Betsy Kerrison Parkway, Johns Island, SC. Born March 8, 1950, in Homestead, Florida, he was one of eight children of the late Ravenel Smith and Linnie Doles Smith. He was employed in many different occupations, the last being The Habitat Restore on Johns Island. Mr. Smith is survived by his beloved wife, ArthaMae Freeman-Smith, three sons, Spencer and Derrick Middleton, Lamont D. (Shanna) Freeman, two daughters, Kimberly Smith of Johns Island and Aileen F. Freeman of Columbia, SC, three sisters, Earlene (Jacob, Sr.) Smalls, Emma Smith, and Gwendolyn Smith, two brothers, Thomas L. Smith and Vernon (Jacquelyn) Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister (Sarah) and one brother (John). The family is receiving friends at the home at 4935 River Road, Johns Island. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Charleston for guidance on this difficult journey. Family and friends may call / visit Walker's Mortuary today (Tuesday) from 3 PM until 8 PM.
