Phyllis Savela Obituary

Phyllis B. Savela COTTAGEVILLE, SC - Phyllis B. Savela, 81, of Cottageville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2017, with her loving family by her bedside. She was the wife for fifty seven years of the late Mr. Stanley Edward Savela. Phyllis was born on November 3, 1935 in Ashtabula, Ohio, a daughter of Viola Bryandt Engstler and Clarence Engstler. Phyllis was a daycare worker for many years and then went on to be a deli worker at BiLo and Reeves Grocery in Walterboro. She retired in 2008. Phyllis enjoyed her family, friends, pets, gardening, and cooking. She leaves behind many who loved her. These include her son, Dennis Michael Savela and daughter-in-law Sharon of Danielson, Connecticut, her daughter, Jennifer Savela Eckert and her husband David of Summerville, South Carolina, her granddaughter, Leah Renee Savela of Killingly, Connecticut, a brother, Glenn Leonard and his wife Jan of Hedgesville, West Virginia, a sister Kathleen Cruz and her husband Angel of Columbus, Ohio, several nieces and nephews, and her best friends, Janet Szymanski and Elvenia Myers of Walterboro, South Carolina, and her dog, Buddy. Phyllis was deeply loved and will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Charleston Animal Society, 2455 Remount Road, Charleston, SC 29406.
