Peter Newman Obituary

Peter Newman N. CHARLESTON - Peter Allen Newman, 92, of North Charleston, passed away Friday, August 9, 2024, in the comfort of his home surrounded by loved ones. He leaves behind his wife of 70 years, Annie Newman; and their five children; Cheryl Stanfill (Thomas), Cathy Sturgis (Daniel), Margaret Jackson (James), Robert Newman (Alana), and Lora Newman; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. He is preceeded in death by his parents, Clayton August Newman and Margaret Graham Newman of Detroit; his brother, William; and his sister, Ida. He was briefly in the US Army and was a certified jumper for the 82nd Airborne. He retired with 30 years of service from the USPS. He was a life long golfer and bowler, and was inducted into the Greater Charleston Bowling Hall of Fame in 2007. He especially loved spending time with his family in the camper on vacation. He was a kind and caring man and will be missed by his family and all of those that knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held at Simplicity Crematorium located at 7475 Peppermill Parkway, Suite E, N. Charleston, SC, on Thursday, August 22nd, at 2:00 pm.
