HOLMES, Penelope The relatives and friends of Mrs. Penelope Heyward Holmes; those of her longtime friend and companion, Mr. David Brown; children, Ms. Lavola H. Robinson, Ms. Zola V. Holmes, Mr. Maurice Holmes (Melissa); late children, Wesley Holmes (Cynthia), Gerald Holmes, Herman Holmes, Jr. (Florence); eleven grandchildren, Shonda Alexander (Dwight), Eric Robinson (Diane), Aliesha Savoy (Marvin), Tasha McKnight, Tara McKnight, Tiesha McKnight, Susie Alston, Latrina Lucas (Dwayne), Maurice Wilder, Jr. Terrance Holmes and Kevin Holmes (Erica); 20 great grandchildren; nine sisters, Doreen Traeye, Vanessa Traeye, Germaine Smith (Lawrence), Millicent Middleton (Taevin), Gloriadean Williams, Wilma Traeye, Pam Traeye, Delores Poinsette, Floretta Poinsette and the late Helen Brooks; brothers, Vincent Traeye (Esther), Leon Poinsette; and late brothers, Bernard Heyward and Martin Heyward (Clara), nieces, nephews and a host of cousins are invited to attend her funeral service on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, 12 noon, at Mother Emanuel AME Church, 110 Calhoun St., Charleston, SC. Friends may call FIELDING HOME FOR FUNERALS, 722-3348 or 1-800-290-5954. Remains to the church 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, where the family will be receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Remains to the church 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Interment, Sunset Memorial Gardens, N. Dear Trina & Family,
Words cannot express the heartfelt loss you are currently experiencing. But thank God for allowing your grandmother, mother, sister, aunt, etc. to create loving memories that you will cherish as the days pass by.
1 Corinthians 15:50 tells us that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. Therefore Ms. Holmes had to put on that immortal body in order to enter into His kingdom. Continue to lean and depend on Jesus for your strength. Live the legacy she has prepared you for, and know that if you accept Jesus as your personal savior heaven belongs to you also.
May God continue to hold you in His arms and comfort you during this time of bereavement.
