Patricia Oates Soubeyroux MT. PLEASANT - Patricia Oates Soubeyroux, 90, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023. Pat was born on June 8, 1933 in Easley, SC, daughter of the late Lillie Oates (Southerland) and William Oates. Pat graduated from Easley High School in 1951. She met her husband, Raymond Stokes Soubeyroux, that same year, and married in 1952. Pat studied at the Citadel and worked as the bookkeeper at Stella Maris Catholic Church. Pat served as the President of the East Cooper Women's Republican Group, the Treasurer of the Women's Charleston Catholic Society and coached the Bishop England Women's Basketball team. She was very active in the community, spending her time doing volunteer work. Pat and Raymond raised their four children, Bernadette Robinson, Raymie Soubeyroux, Catherine Eddins, and Mary Ann Moraska on Sullivan's Island. Once Pat retired, she spent her time baking, crocheting, taking walks on the beach, and watching classic movies. Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Stokes Soubeyroux, parents, Lillie Oates, and William Oates, and four siblings. Patricia was survived by her children, Bernadette Robinson, Ray Soubeyroux (Kim), Catherine Eddins (Richard), Mary Ann Moraska, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. The family will receive friends on October 16, 2023, from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464. The service will be held at Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1149 Russell Drive, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464 on October 17, 2023 at 10:30 AM. The burial will be held at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Charleston, South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or the Kidney Foundation.
