Joyce was born March 13, 1934 in Waycross, Georgia, daughter of Spencer Barrett Wildes and Nellie Sauls Wildes. Joyce loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. She raised her children with patience and gentle guidance. Nothing brought Joyce more joy than spending time with her beloved granddaughter, Sarah. Joyce had a talent for crafting, such as sewing, knitting, and cross-stitch. She had a strong sense of color and design, evidenced in her home, and from her choice of apparel. Joyce loved to cook for her family, especially during holidays. Her sought-after sweet potato souffle was always a big hit. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and celebration, a testament to her nurturing nature. As a retired military wife, Joyce and her family had been stationed at multiple deployments, including Japan, while acclimating to different cultures. She had a career with the Veterans Administration Hospital until retirement. Afterwards, she and her late husband, Hutch, enjoyed traveling across the country, including a six month RV trip across the country and taking a cruise to Alaska. She is survived by children: Stephen Hutcheson (Mary Ann) of Lexington, SC and Suzanne Hutcheson Ritter of Johns Island, SC; granddaughter, Sarah Marie Ritter; and many loved nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son, John Michael Hutcheson; and four siblings. A memorial message may be written to the family by visiting www.jhenrystuhr.com
