Nancy Galloway Obituary

Nancy Jay Galloway COLUMBIA, SC - Nancy Jay Galloway went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb.18, 2011. Nancy Jay was born in Welch, West Virginia, on November 2, 1945. She was the daughter of the late James (Jay) Bryan Whitehead and Nancy Beach Whitehead. Nancy Jay was a member of Northeast Presbyterian Church (NEPC), where she served on the Leadership Council for Women's Ministry and coordinated prayer requests for numerous committees and was a member of the Agape Circle and the JOY Sunday School Class at church. She also served as a board member of Christian Ministries International. After high school, Nancy Jay attended the University of Arizona Nursing School in Tucson and Nursing School in Abington, Virginia. She worked in nursing in hospitals and doctors' offices in California and South Carolina before joining Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Carolina in 1970, where she worked for 13 years and met her husband in 1971 and married four weeks to the day after their first date. She later retired as a physicians' practice manager in 1997. Her loves were a beautiful yard, flowers, birds, spending time on Seabrook Island, those special times with her grandson Will, and praying. Nancy Jay is survived by her husband of nearly forty years, Harvey L. Galloway of Columbia; her son Scott W. Galloway (Erin) of Blythewood, SC; her grandson William W. Galloway of Blythewood, her daughter, Monica D. Thomas (David) of Jackson, MS; three brothers, David Whitehead (Angel) of Orlando, FL, Robert Whitehead of Oklahoma City, OK, and Timothy Whitehead of Orlando, FL; her sister, Sandra Manis of Roanoke, VA; and a very special Aunt, Joan Mysakowec , of Lynchburg, VA. Services will be held beginning 2:00 p.m., March 1, at Northeast Presbyterian Church at 601 Polo Road, Columbia, SC. The family will receive visitors from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. The Reverend George Crow of NEPC and The Reverend Rhett Sanders of Blythewood Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will precede the service in the NEPC Memorial Garden. Kornegay & Moseley Funeral Home & Cremation Service is in charge. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested you make donations to Northeast Presbyterian Church, Blythewood Presbyterian Church, Christian Ministries International, or a special charity of your choice. A special thanks to Dr Brian Cline, Dr. Joe McElveen, Dr. Dan Love, Dr. Mark Mayson, and all of their staff members, and the teams at Baptist Medical Center in the emergency room, 8th Averyt, IICU and Palmetto Baptist Hospice and Marsha Johnson, Nancy Jay's Blue Choice Case Manager; all for their care, compassion, and kindness.
