Myra Mayfield Obituary

Myra Mayfield HANAHAN - Myra Johns Mayfield, 101, of Hanahan, SC, entered into eternal rest on January 16, 2013. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel. She was born November 2, 1911 in Bamberg County, SC, the daughter of the late Robert Clarence Johns and the late Alvinia Breland Johns Kearse. After graduating from Olar High School she came to Charleston looking for work. She was employed with American Tobacco for over 30 years and retired in 1971 as a department supervisor. She is a member of the Southside Baptist Church. She loved the Lord, enjoyed attending church and read the Bible several times. She was loved by all who knew her as a kind, loving and generous person. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude F. Mayfield; sister, Gladys Johns Beasley; brothers: Dalma Breland Johns, Clarence Merrell Johns, Henry Calhoun Johns, Lewis Vernon Johns and James Bobby Kearse. She is survived by her brother, Cecil B. Kearse of Charleston and several nieces and nephews.
